Wedding Films at Le Morimont, Alsace

A wedding film is a particular kind of object: five or six minutes that hold on to a voice, a rhythm, the light at the end of a day. You find things in it you had not noticed at the time — a look exchanged at the back of the room, the silence just before the vows. That is why people come back to them years later.

At Le Morimont, a film does something more: it shows the distances. In photographs, each space exists on its own — nothing suggests they all sit a few dozen paces apart. A few minutes of film make it obvious.

What this film shows about Le Morimont

Beyond the emotion, which the film carries remarkably well, you see how the different spaces at Le Morimont all sit within a hundred-metre radius. Getting ready at the hotel, drinks on the terrace, dinner and dancing in the barn. Only the photo session travels any distance, up to the ruins of Morimont castle, 350 metres on foot — those shots recur throughout the edit and give the measure of the setting.

This is precisely what six minutes of film convey better than a photo gallery: everything is here, and nothing calls for a car. No transfer between the ceremony and dinner, no half-hour lost moving a hundred guests from one address to another. The camera follows the day without a logistical break, exactly as the couple and their guests live it.

Anthony “RU2G” Ruggeri, filmmaker

Anthony Ruggeri films under the name RU2G. “Choosing each other” was shot in 2024, for the wedding of Kaitlin and Camille, over a full weekend — on a Sony A7S III, with a few aerial shots by drone.

His approach suits this place: light on intervention, no heavy staging, close attention to gestures and to silence.

What this film shows

This is not a wedding film. It is an inspiration shoot, filmed in midwinter with models, by a group of suppliers who came together for a single day. Nothing in it is spontaneous — and that is exactly what makes it worth watching.

The aerial footage reads the castle in a way the ground never allows: the true footprint of the ruins, the line of the walls, how the whole thing settles into the terrain. In winter, with no leaves, the structure is fully visible. It is the best picture we have of what couples find when they walk up to the ruins.

Winter weddings at Le Morimont

One clarification, because these images could suggest otherwise: the barn does not host weddings in winter. Winter celebrations take place on the hotel side, for small gatherings.

The guest count then matches what we can accommodate overnight — fifty people at most, with around forty being the more comfortable format. It makes for a different kind of wedding: everyone sleeps on site, meals are shared, and the place closes around a single group. The ruins and the paths, meanwhile, stay open all year.

Filmed and edited by Anthony “RU2G” Ruggeri on a Sony A6300. The aerial footage was shot by Vizéo, using a DJI Phantom 4.

Why Le Morimont films beautifully

Five things come up again and again from the filmmakers who have worked here.

Everything is on site. Getting ready, ceremony, drinks, dinner, accommodation: nothing has to be filmed in transit, so there is no dead weight in the edit — and no risk of missing a moment during a transfer.

Everything looks good. Whichever way you point the camera, what you see at Le Morimont has charm: no need to twist the frame to hide a utility pole or a concrete wall. Photographers find the same comfort here.

The setting changes every fifty metres. The Allée des Seigneurs, the barn, the terrace, the castle ruins: a single afternoon yields sequences that look nothing alike, without a kilometre of driving.

The quiet. Oberlarg lies at the bottom of a valley in the Alsatian Jura, not far from the Swiss border. Very little traffic and very little stray noise: location sound stays usable, which is rare outdoors.

The full weekend. Weddings here run over several days. A videographer can film the preparations the day before, the whole wedding day, and the following morning — without racing the clock.

Are drones allowed at Le Morimont?
Yes, with one simple rule: the drone must not draw attention to itself. High-altitude flights only, outside the perimeter of guests and residents — never above people or private areas. Take-off happens at a distance. Aerial shots are beautiful, but they do not come before the comfort and wellbeing of your guests. Regulatory compliance for the flight rests with the pilot; we look after the experience on site.

Can the castle ruins be filmed?
The outside of the ruins is accessible, 350 metres from the hotel, and every bit as impressive — the film shows it well. The interior of the castle, however, is not under our responsibility.

Do you have videographers to recommend?
Yes. Several videographers know the site well, its distances and its light, which makes a real difference on the day. The choice remains entirely yours: ask us for names if you want them, or come with your own.

Should we book the videographer for the whole weekend?
It is not required, but it produces the best films. The weekend format leaves time for the preparations and the unguarded moments — usually the strongest sequences in the final edit.

What about language, subtitles, delivery format?
Those choices belong to your videographer: discuss them directly with them.
